CHARLIE MALAYALAM MOVIE REVIEW

Charlie is a much a awaited film ,written,directed and co-produced by Martin Prakkat featuring the youth icon Dulquir Salman and Parvathy in lead role. The movie has all most all features like comedy, drama, romance , and few take-heart  life quotes. It all makes the movie so colorful and offers a blend of tiny surprises hidden every where through which Charlie goes.

Story

The movie starts when Tessa, a bublee urban girl who is passionate as well as crazy upon art forms who travels back to her home for her brothers wedding with which she is also trapped by a mutual marriage treaty. As she refuse to accept the proposal, she runs away from there and arrange a rent house through one of her uncle. The house looks so awkward and disoriented with so many rough sketches, terakotas and some interesting waste-made artworks. Struggling to adjust with such a horrible place.

she got to know that the room was previously hired by a guy of mysteries. While she was packing the old luggage's and other stuffs own by that man,she come across a caricature book in which she could read a secret story. As the book is incomplete, she felt so anxious to know the rest. 

Next day morning, she catch hold off a thief who sleeps within her house , who has similar face  as that of the caricature. When she encounter the thief, she could know what happened after those last page of the caricature. The thief says the  story from where he entered the man's room at a mid night to rob as such  it portrays in those caricature. When the they'd and mysterious man  planned to rob a house, they saw a lady committing suicide by teeing a rope on a ceiling fan. When the man makes her escape, she ride away on her bike.

As the movie develops ,Tessa identifies another one who is a Fisher man. When she enquired to him about the man, he says that he don't know much about him except a night when the man invited the fisher man into a job to take an HIV infected lady into the sea far away to show her mermiads. When she watch a boat with lights offering prayers to the Poseidon, she commits suicide. The story back to the normal time line when Tessa continues to search the man with whom she is attracted to. 

Quest for the man turns more exciting when Tessa meets an old man from whom she learns more about the man she was searching. A nomade who does good things and escapes from every ones sight keep tessas thoughts colorful.

When Tessa traces the house she had seen on that caricature, she got to know about the girl who escaped from suicide because of the man of search. He brought her to an orphanage and have her the gift of her own life again.

The orphanage visualizes a story of an old army man who is a love-lost philosopher. The orphange too have so much to say about the man she searches. When she goes from the old age home, he comes there but they didn't meet. But the girls who escaped from the suicide, tells him everything.

The movie reaches the edge of this hide and seek when the mysterious man conveys the message to Tessa to find him amidst the thrissur pooram.

Tessa come searching him and identifies the man who just did a fire escape act in thrissur temple-ground.

Astonished Tessa watching him while he walks to her , and says his name CHARLIE.

Tessa does a prank that she is not the girl Charlie thought of. But he vanishes again leaving Tessa sad, but comes aside her again on her next breath. The dances together following the pooram beats.......

Positives

The movie appeals to every class of audience even to kids, is a complete entertainer with so many surprises.

What we just think won't happen, keeps Charlie a unique experience. Almost all the flavors of a commercial movie comes with Charlie with so many social messages and life quotes.

Costumes deserves special mention as it can change the trend of thick beard , black sorry trend set by premam.

Hats of to gopi sunder as the Music is simply good especially the bgm.

Cinematographer jomon. T. John tried every angle from which the movie looks awesome and colorful. The green-red shades through out the reel makes the movie more fantasizing.

The best part of the movie is dq and parvathy as the did their best with wonderful chemistry even if the movie don't have more than five minutes both shares the screen. Perfect screen play makes the movie without any boring patterns.

Negatives 

Charlie don't offers much screen presence of dq but it was well enough for the movie. 

Fantasizing dq in first half may  feel little childish as such we are watching a horror movie.

Although bgm is good, songs were not up-to the hummable rhythms from gopi sunder. As the Charlie makes a heavy image ,  it got blurred when we see him dancing like an ordinary chocolate boy in songs. It could have better choreographed preserving his identity.

Rating 

Am giving 3.5/5 to this Christmas gift from the crew.After all,charlie fails to surprise the audience , because they had already declared the movie a super hit..
