BIGIL. Review.

Sqeezing the spicy stuffs from vijays recent releases to build the first half, and sculpting the second half with a sense of dignity, drama, and sports, bigil smoothly manages to satisfy the fans as well as the general public.

PLOT
Bigil starts as usual with colorful intro of vijay as michael who lives in a slum with his friends and family. The film follows the cliched gooffy attempts for laughters ,typically, and a cheerful kickoff with nayantharas introduction.
Movie make its references to the past when a friend of michael named kathir who comes to him with his state football team. Kathir and michael were attacked by local goons and kathir became severely wounded and paralysed. The entire team blames michael for the incident that spared the  team's future and michael became defenestrated from the team, which is infact nurtured and funded by michael himself with an insight to provide oppurtunities for marginalised girl children and thus to social progress.
Michael takes the challenge and became a coach for the team in place of his friend kathir.
The film anticlocks midway to narrate the story of bigil, a passionate footballer and, it precisely explain the father- son relationship. Bigils father Raayappan (older vijay) wished to keep bigil away from the rivalries and bloodbath.
The crux of the film shines in the second half brighter and brighter when the girls football team facestheir challenges and win the tournament as michael(bigil) morally fulfils his earlier dream of becoming the winner of nationals.

POSITIVES.
Second half of the film is inspiringly colorful and socially committed in a way of women empowerment.
Artistic exhibitions like music and dance are energising with scintilating visuals.
Football scenes and other action sequences are also well designed and that could massively create an impact onto the screen.
Vijay as an actor explored few more steps ahead from his method acting and stereotypes and casting is in due perfection with respect to the football teams.
It raises voice against conservative patriarchy in indian society, vitriolage, and voilence...

NEAGATIVES
As the first portions are scripted exclusively for pleasing native fanbase, you may feel it as a marathon of cliches when it comes to the gestures, wits and situational buildups.
The film is about 3 hours breifly so that ,we can clearly feel sorry for the director as he is struggling to tell entire story detailing the older vijay and bigil  and the script sometimes fails to identify the strategy through which its gonna balance mass elements and emotional drama.
RATING.
Am giving 6.5/10..
