GEHRAIYAAN, (Review)

"Letting go is easy, but the hardest part is Moving on " - as Meridith Grey from Greys Anatomy acknowledges, this would be absolutely true in case of a manicured Generations urban lifestyle where Moving on is a common catchphrase. The film Gehraiyaan tries to reflect such intricate emotions and mental health of four characters named Aleesha, Karan, Tia, and Zain.

The story starts when Aleesha and her boyfriend Karan meets her cousin Tia and her boyfriend. Though the audience can easily suspect the upcoming infidelity, the film treats the track of infatuation- Infidelity-Intimacy in a gentle romantic way. As Aleesha and Zain become more closer, sharing their abusive past and future dreams, the film starts winding down into deeper layers of complexities. Alesha and Zain realises that they are stuck within their loops and could not let go their relationship further more.

Such a complicated Romantic story dives into a thrilling wave when Zain got financial tussle at the same time Aleesha got pregnant. Tia, being the character that shown as an unaware Elite princess, couldn't catch up her boyfriends parallel relationship as Zain manages his secrecy as polite as he can.

Hey...

To where all these incidents heading to ?How could such an immoral character sketch be painted so  morally to conclude ?

Do we have something more precious to ourselves than the socially imposed concepts of morality?                            How our past infiltrates into the present day's emotional dilemma at it's worst timings possible?

Could we survive the self test or will we fall apart?? That's Gehraiyaan all about...

POSITIVES.

Despite the peripheral criticism on intimate scenes and flimsy attire, the Story and script stands out and earns special attention of those who can experience the film deeply at a psychological level.

Deepika managed Aleesha both as sassy and vulnerable with ten on ten accuracy. Siddhant, and Ananya who have equal screentime delivered their brilliant pieces to the core.

Cinematography was so careful in it's position, movements and closeups. Editing added a charismatic outlook especially adding bluish color tone in general, with more contrast of the same at corporate drama scenes.BGM was so engaging and two of the songs are nicely done.

Depiction of emotional state through sea waves, though it considered as past it's sell by date, blended neatly. Tall buildings and the Yacht to depict the life of zian was a impressive cinematic attempt.

NEAGATIVES.

Though it's a Romantic thriller with emotional elements, indian audience may feel less relatable to connect with. The empathy-magic that's expected to get worked in such films sometimes get dysfunctional.

Though the script is good, Dialogues could have little more pointedly composed. There was enough space to insert poetic one-liners but not such take home messages popped up.

Intentional inclusion of repetitive Intimate visuals can be sensed as an exploitation of the actor's dedications. Compelled use of the word *fuck* sounded aversive.

RATING

Despite of the criticism on a surface level of the film, that's widely circulated in the social media, am giving 4/5 to this Great film that can be relatable to everyone when we watch it more deeply..
