LUCIFER, Malayalam movie Review

"To get rid of devils, I have to loose my Angels"- Yes.. The wait is over for the "lucifer" as it incarnated on the big screen just hours ago. I dont think i can convey the pulse of the crowd from theaters as the film is more to enjoy visually with charismatic narratives and crowd-pulling stardom.

PLOT:

The film starts with a political turmoil developed after the demise of a senior politician named PKR. Following the incidence; Stephen Nedumpally (mohanlal) enters the plot as he is the stepson of the late PKR. The political scenarios in the state connects with the Drug dealers from the mumbai underworld through Bimal nair , husband of Priyadarshini (pkr's daughter).

Bimal , who goes crazy with the drug -giants of Mumbai and deals to assist funding for the political party in Kerala so that they can find the growing market of illicit drugs back here without any police interventions. Stephen encouters this deal and rejects the offers of the party through Bimal.

This invites rivalry between stephen and political opponents including Bimal so as to introduce the absconding son of late PKR from abroad into the current political chaos and also plunging stephen behind the bars with a fabricated sexual allegation,on party funded media.

Stephen makes the call to someone(prthiviraj) to clear the funds that's  draining from mumbai to kerala as liquid cash worth 250 crores, by blasting away all the three containers , two on road and one on the sea. The anonymous gang who did all these blasts, demands the release of stephen from the prison.

Back on the familial drama, Priyadarshinis daughter(jazmine) got admitted in hospital on overdoze of LSD, that she got through bimal, her stepfather, and she reveals to her mother everything about the drug- abuses and sex-toying of bimal on her. Priyadarshini uses her last hope to call stephen to get rid of all these mishaps and the rest is all about stephen's jobs. Finally, stephen on a montane top, reveals his identity as Abram qureshi as the audience  gave their last standing ovation...

POSITIVES.

The movie is a luxury of clap-traps, punches and stardust that makes the film colorfully extravagant. BGM deserves special mention as it mingled with each frames and flavors of the plot.
Script is very powerful with political satires and contemporary ironies that saw few glitters of comedy here and there. Prithviraj as a debute director clearly establishes everything by exploiting the star-value of each steps in casting.
Laalettan as always does the job very easily as stephen nedumpally, both in melodramaticed sequences  as well as the massive scenes.

NEAGATIVES;

Honestly i didn't feel any lagging, boring, cliches and witty weeds in the film except a lengthy item song cum climax. But avoiding much musical experiments would be a clever move as it might have been interfered with the flow of the film

RATING: Am giving 9 out of 10 for this advanced vishu cracker with fabulous colors and magnificent glory..
