MALIK, Movie Review

"Heros don't exist. If they do, i wouldn't be one of them"- as the Sherlock puts in BBC series, The film Malik also conveys the price the Hero has to pay for being so.

The films tells about story of two religious minorities in 1980s ,who lived in a costal city peacefully with their own means of traditional livelihood and lifestyle. The character named Chandran who is a local smuggler got killed by the protagonist Ali as a revenge against a Fire accident that's thought to be conspired by Chandran's gang, which ignites the spark of vengeance and further powerplays.

The story takes its religious edge when the character Ali was blamed for all the bloodsheds and allegedly thought to be benefitted from these mess, so his church. David who was once Ali's best friend and his brother in law ,emerged as a Christian minoritie's trigger point, was manipulated by the local politician named Abhu for his own Agendas. The clash between these two communities were fired up when Tsunami hits their land and , Politician , Police and Govt officials blowed more oxygen to it..

Ali escapes the charges of Chandran's murder, as nobody came forward to speak against him. But as he turned older, the police tries to go for an appeal against the 20year old judgement, and to put his own mother as an prime witness to trap him down. Meanwhile, Ali decided to go for his religious pilgrimage , get caught by the police as he is already booked under TADA.

The film takes its final lap when Ali and his son in law meet in prison and Ali's version of the story makes the film unbend its curves.

POSITIVES

#The film is so delicious with nourishing performances from every character as they excelled in catching up with the timeline, accent and emotional depth..

#Script that untie through three different flashbacks made the film more interesting as it could show both rights and wrong in different perspectives.

#BGM as a vector ,made the film like a pandemic that can have its easiest way of transmission from screen to our Brain.

#Cinematography and Artworks gave lives to every word in the script. The first 12 minutes Continuous shot never even made it appears to be so..

NEAGATIVES.

#Three fragmented flashbacks through different perspectives may be confusing to the audience with some degrees of absurdity.

#Sometimes the originality in Costal accent of trivandrum may seems difficult to understand for few audience , ofcourse not to be considered as a neagative remark.

RATING..

Am giving 9/10 for this finely crafted masterpiece from the Director Mahesh Narayanan, without going further into the sources from which the movie took its inspiration and i willingly sideline its political interpretations..
