Churuli(Spiral) Film review and discussion
Plot.
Two undercover-cops took over the challenge to find an absconding criminal named Joy, drew their parallelism with the folktale of a spirit who misleads people from their ways. They work and stays in a toddy shop to know more about the people as it's the place where everything can be investigated without anyone's suspicion. Living in such an uncivilised society without any values and conditioning, they explores their own freedom and ends up in the same loop of immorality.
Positives
Similar to "Jallikkattu" LJP has nested the film in a hilltop, and reveals the story like a rustling air in glimmer. The story don't have a protagonist albeit, managed to continue the narrative in the same pace. Story is engaging like a fable, and the screenplay increased its phylosophical depth. Cinematography is well planned with wide frames as most of the scenes demand the screen presence of multiple characters. Artworks went perfect in every angle, goes hand in hand with cinematographic convictions and visual effects.BGM plays a major part in the film. Sounds that are not even heard before, thrills the viewers with the freshness of a forest breeze that contains mysterious elements hidden somewhere.
Negatives.
As the story occurs in and aside from an illegal beverage shop in a lawless land, the language used in every scene is so obscene with at least one derogatory word in every sentence. This is so realistic but doesn't appeal to everyone.
The climax sequence and the other references are seemingly absurd like a hardly Jigsaw.
RATING.
Am giving 7/10 for this film, and underline the warning that the film is restricted to children below the age of eighteen.
LJP raises the bar again by creating such a beautifully crafted film which addresses innermost wild appetencies of man. The movie certainly leaves a lot to think for the audience.
