Hrdhayam, Movie Review

Musically crafted Hrdhayam sings about college romance and post-campus lives of Arun and his friends at a gradual pace. The first half of the film appeals to college students and the second half is designed to gather family audience.

Starting from a railway station when Arun gets in, his new college life, his rivalry with seniors, his relationships with Darshana, their breakup, the demise of his friend, and his decent academic success make up the first half. Second half deals with his pursuit of passion, another relationship with a girl named Nithya who he met in  a wedding, their marriage, family life, few moments of backlash from his ex-girlfriend and a peaceful ending.

Positives.
The best engagement in the film is it's music that goes like a charming medley without any complicated twists and turns.
Leading actors like Pranav mohanlal, Darshana rajendran, Kallyani priyadarshan and all played their part with ease as it seems like they have reflected themselves.
Matrilineal naming of a newborn and breaking Gender stereotype on household affairs was a progressive attempt.

Negatives.
Story don't have much substance nor anything special. It goes more like a musical album. One can say it's a 'feel good film', but it actually don't have much to feel or anything to capture the attention of a viewer with regard to it's storyline.
First half felt elaborated as we may think the movie has ended on it's interval. Second half too crawling with moments but nothing much happens out of our guess.
The movie fails to create impact neither with romance nor with melodrama.
Lots of jokes passed without any laughter and lots of screentime wasted for saying something little. So... Even if you miss 30 mints of the film, you won't actually feel missed anything...

Am giving 6/10 for Hrdhayam that beats very slow on me. It was like an ordinary meal that satisfied my hunger but didnt have any spices and flavours to make me taste special except few visuals and music.
