Aavaasavyooham, Review

Avaasavyooham is a film discusses about Ecological concepts like natural Habitats, biodiversity, anthropocentric impacts and Human behaviour. Its presented in a docudrama style to interplot some curious facts that goes along with the storyline.

Plot.

Joy, a man of anonymity have some unknown power to communicate with other species. He works with a middle aged fisherman and helps him to have better catch by producing certain sounds to attract the fishes. After some local conflicts with a man called Murali,he was forced to escape to another shore. There he helps another man in fishing activities. Meanwhile, joy get caught by the police alleging his illegal entry into a protected area along with an old man. Joy faces serious troubles afterwards and narrowly escapes from a gun shot from Murali, his old enemy. He finds shelter in a small house but get caught by the locals and police. By the time,He develops webs on his hind limbs like that of a frog as the villagers start narrating their own stories about Joy featuring him as an amphibian man, as a godman, as a thief, and so on. When this news became widely circulated in the media,Govt, seals the house, waits for further enquiries from the officials of fisheries department and forest guards. But murali enters the house in silence and kills Joy with two rounds of gunshots.

Positives.

The film is very attractively taken with beautiful visuals of nature, some elements of fantasy and local Puthuvypine. It interplots so many facts about biodiversity and other alarming data on species extinctions. Its scripted in a documentary style so that the audience can follow these events like a media report with some elements of mystery that thrills everyone till the last minute. It criticises the greedy nature of humans and its impact of environment. Sociopolitical issues are also discussed briefly in a comic tone. Scenes that refers Poverty, exploitation from Tharakan (boat owners), Labelling someone as Maoist, Double tone of Policemen, etc are very sarcastic.

Negatives.

The film didn't convey any core idea in particular . Although It addressed so many things related to environment and habitat from human evolution to fantasy, but left it all half the way of satisfaction without any conclusion.

Rating.

We can watch it like a fantasy film or like a docudrama on the lives of Puthuvypine or like a fact sheet of nature. Sometimes its relatable to some Xmen who face social stigmatisation. In which ever way you watch it, its having an element of mystery that will compel you to watch it completely. Am giving 7/10 for this experiment that's definitely having something different in it...
