Varisu. Review

Varisu is a musically powered family-action drama that forcefully tries to explore as many charisma as of the actor Vijay on screen.

The film tells the story a buisness giant named Rajendran(Sarath kumar) and his family. His three sons, two of them aspires to become the next chairman of their Company, and Vijay the third one who is hesitant to be identified under his fathers glory. Rivalries between the two sons and the other buisness competitors are the challenges for Vijay who cares about his family more than anything else. The way he deals with all these after surprisingly assumed the chairmanship, balancing that with his family issues, is the backbone of the story.

Positives.

When it comes to a Vijay film he is everything of it. The same scenario repeats in varisu as well as he took the screentime and the story onto his shoulders effortlessly. His Dance, self referal dailogues from his earlier hits, comedy and action that defines a typical commercial films, are all exhibited in a family oriented style to please his audience who expects the same from him.

Music by Thaman S, deserves special mention as it could blanketwrap  the lagging amidst the vacant spaces of 167 minutes.

Vijay, giving career advices, relationship advices, family advices, buisness advices and parenting advices may have an impact on the audience positively as he is very influential among the masses.

Negatives.

It appears to be like a Big screen version of a usual mini screen drama that idealize so many conservative family values.

Women characters in the film either do cooking- serving or seducing men. Even the strong women of the family don't have any say except for kitchen menu.

Reshmika mandana, from her celebrated title of  'Queen of commercial films' become a mere Item dancer without much screentime except the prior scenes of the songs.

In a scene, Rajendran is shown fallen flat in his bedroom and he got carried to a hospital. In hospital, he got fibrillated to rescued and the doctor reveals about his pancreatic cancer. He might have had a cardiac arrest or something, but still the doctor, without explaining the immediate cause, reveals about his pancreatic cancer. This scene may incite a clinical doubt that whata defibrillator has to do with pancreatic cancer. This degree of misunderstanding could have been avoided.

Rating.

I am giving 6/10 for this Mass entertainer. It have all the ingredients for a vijay film, no doubt, but somewhere emotional content got diluted due to a overstretched screenplay.
