Malayalam movie FIREMAN review
PLOT: The movie starts with helplessness of salim kumar whose daughter is critically illed. He argues with the shopkeeper who gave him untidy beverages. But while he excused from the scene to get his daughter's medical report, he lost his daughter from his car. He searched for her with the help of the people around there but could not find her.
Then, the movie progresses with an intro of mammooty,playing as a fireman named vijay. While he was giving an informative awareness class to school students and he asked about their ambition. Students says about their dreams to become a doctor ,engineer,police, etc... He just smiled after knowing that nobody is interested to become a fireman,the person who save other from death, the one who arrives on emergency,the one who treated as a messenger of god sometimes.
On his office, his senior officer was retiring on the day as everyone gives him a farewell. But on a sudden they got a phone call about an accident of a petroleum tanker. They quickly go there abiding the duties of their profession. Between their mission, their senior commander(the one who just had farewell) dies as another policeman started their jeep. The tank was leaking as the gas spreads. Mammootty arrives the plot and realizes that the situation is extremely critical. The petroleum gas will spread rapidly and it can ignite the whole area within a fraction of second if any sources for fire scratches. Only option infront of them is to change the leaking gas to other container so that it can be controllable. But the new tanker will take more than six hours to reach at the location. Mass evacuation is the only remaining option in front of them or else the people will burn if anything sparks. Commander Vijay orders the police to make evacuation as soon as possible to save the life of innocent people, but it was almost impossible to evacuate the entire area as the central jail is within the critical zone. Evacuating jail is too dangerous as it will make the escape of so many criminals. There comes the tugs of morality,ethics and reality while they have to decide to hide the situation from the prisoners. But it all get flashed and prisoners were too provoked after knowing this situation. When the situation goes on, the containers pressure increases more than the threshold but vijay fixes it back to normalcy. Vijay and his team members analyse the situation with the police authorities including the IPS officer sherin thomas played by nyla usha. They analyses that somebody inside the central jail planned to escape from the prison by creating all this mess with utmost accuracy and intelligence. Meanwhile, salim kumar threatens the entire police force to search for his daughter unless he will blast the entire area with a cigarette lamp.But he is chased by the police and he eventually die. The police and fire rescue team was much sure that the culprit behind all this situation rests behind the bars. Vijay enters the jail and tries to convince the prisoners but he got disappointed after cluelessness. When he was returning from the prisoner, jailer provocatively argues him by saying the correct details of tank capacity,time and frequency of spreading and its blast radius. Vijay realizes that the PRISONER is the man behind all this because what he said was absolutely correct. No jailer would know about the details of its other than the police officials. Vijay thrashes him within the jail and on a sudden he gets a lighter and threatens the whole police force with that lighter. As he lights there were no explosion like he expected because the tank was refilled with the help of local plumbers and other technicians without waiting for real operators from Coimbatore to arrive. Thus the issue got solved and the movie ends with a TV news that says about "the terrorist attempt to escape from the central prison was blocked and their brilliancy was outsmarted by the kerala police and fire and rescue guards..

POSITIVES.
The best decision by the direct was to restrict the movie within one and fifty five minutes or else it might have turned bad. Its a complete thriller with enough angles of suspense,information,ethics and socio- political thoughts. The background score ,cinematography and especially the script need special applause. Mammooty played well eventhough the movie don't have much scenes to express the skill of acting. Supporting roles played by Nyla usha as a police officer, Unni mukundan as shah jahan and Siddque as a politician were too good. It silently mentions about the fate of a fireman to rescue everyone of us without minding his own family and life. The movie is also emotionally filled with the relationship between the co workers and also family.
Its a complete thriller that realy safeguard your money and time that you spent for it..
NEGATIVES.
The movie doesn't have any situational songs even though the plot doesn't need it much. Mammootty once again proved that he cant even run properly as an ideal policeman. Salim kumar enters the movie as a father who is too poor to look after his daughter but then revealed himself as a terrorist, ok, i accept. But after watching the movie, who was the child shown with him in the first scene is still a mystery.
RATING:I am giving 4/5.
Its a good movie. Even though it did not had much promotions and thus expectation, its really firing....
