Minnal Murali Review.
Film sets its canvas on an imaginary village that's still not much invaded by commerce and development. After been struck by lightning, he overcome the tragedy and realises his extraordinary powers. Meanwhile he spot his imposter who is a social outcast. The lunatic imposter , though he doesn't actually mean to harm anyone, but tries to fix his puzzled life back on track, eventually turns out to earn a dark shade from the people after doing illegal activities.
As the imposter turns more violent after his perversion got ignited on his loved ones demise, he turns to become antisocial. Minnal murali, though he kept his identity on secret, uncover himself and save the people from the rage of villain imposter.
POSITIVES.
Story, script and fiction are blended with an ordinary village lifestyle very intricately so that everything seems more convincing. Even if we compare with any Hollywood superhero franchise, minnal murali will definitely have his own space.
With decent VFX and background score, the film got a midas touch, with it's technical triumph at every turn.
Emotional parts, songs, casting and performances were best suited throughout. Tovino Thomas imbibed the physical demand of a conventional superhero and rest of the actors especially Guru somasundaram registered their brilliance.
Cinematography is something that felt most beautiful. Even if you randomly pause anywhere in the 2:40 hours, you will get a decent snap, that made the film as a textbook for cinematography aspirants.
In the climax sequence, Brucelee( jaisons girlfriend) escape from the vault in which she was looked up, after breaking its walls by herself. Its a iconoclastic attempt from the makers as the heroines are usually placed as a Damsel-In-Distress in every superhero films. Here, the director gives enough screentime and space for the actor in lead , without sidelining her to a mere girlfriend.
NEAGATIVES.
One Thing i felt confused in the story is that whether Jaison(tovino) could regain his memory after the lightening episodes?? According to the film, He lost his memory after the tragic incident in his childhood when he lost his father. But in the final scenes, reminiscence about his father shown as his inspiration..
A Superhero saving people from a falling bus is a usual show of adventurism in films of this genre, that appears as cliche. Few comedy sequences also couldn't crack laughter as expected.
While we watch a superhero film, we will definitely expect something extraordinary back-and-forth. But such thrilling sequences took large gap to come, that make one feel the film dragging..
Film tells that the Character named shibhu is there in the village since his childhood and went to elementary school. But even after two or three decades, why his malayam accent didn't get naturalised..? One can say the persistent tamilian accent in his speach as a tool to account his socially isolated past, is it..???
RATING.
I am giving 8.5 out of 10.
